Your Mouth, The Anchor of Your Destiny
You might be thinking or you might be surprised how come my mouth has to do with my destiny or the other way around. What does it mean? Listen attentively, your mouth, as a human being, has a great power. It has a great role to play in your life journey and you all might have been aware that when I say destiny, I’m simply talking about what God has planned to you to be in this world.
In Matthew 12:37, the Bible says, “For by thy words shall thou be justified and by thy word shall thou be condemned.” Words carry a great power as big as a ship, no matter how gigantic it looks, no matter how many passengers are inside, it is being controlled by an anchor. The same thing with human life, human destiny is controlled by the mouth which curbs it either into successful living or into condemnation. That’s why the Bible says, “By your mouth, you shall be judged or condemned”, that’s our Lord Jesus Christ talking. It simply means, our mouth, our words that come out of our mouth greatly influence what we will become in the future. Whatever you declare today, I’ll be able to tell you what you will be tomorrow. Whatever comes out of your mouth today, will determine what you will become. Listen! When I say your mouth is the anchor for your life, let me tell you why I know this. In the Bible, when we read James 3:4, it talks about the mouth mentioning the tongue. It’s talking about words coming out from your mouth through the tongue. “Behold also the ships which though they be so great and are driven of fierce winds and turned about with in a every small helm, whithersoever it goeth.”
And verse 6 emphasizes that the tongue is the fire, a world of iniquity. The tongue is among the member that can defile the whole body and sets everything ablaze and put it in hell. So, no matter how big the ship is, it can be carried side by side, here and there by the power of the tongue. I’m using it as an illustration for the human life. What are the words that come out of your mouth daily? It doesn’t matter how many prophesies, how many visions, revelations, how many promises of God you receive, if your tongue is not aligned with the Lord’s saying for you. You will be a great hindrance to your tomorrow. You need to understand that many Christians have ruined things particularly, the plans of God through their mouth. And God wants you to understand this. Proverbs 18:20 says, “A man’s belly shall be satisfied with the fruit of his mouth and with the increase of his lips shall he be filled”, that Lord is saying that your mouth can bring blessings to you. You can be filled with the blessing of God through your mouth. And the next passage verse 21 says, “Death and life are in the power of the tongue and they that love it shall eat the fruit thereof”. Your tongue carries a power that can bring forth a fruit of whatever that came out of it. What are those fruits then? Death and Life. God has left the choosing to you, the sons of man. If you choose life, you enjoy life. The Bible speaks greatly of the tongue and of the mouth as instrument in your choice of your destiny and your future.
There are two forces waiting for whatever comes out of your mouth- the forces of the kingdom of the light, the kingdom of God Almighty, the Spirit of God, the angels of heaven, they’re waiting to for us for whatever we declare with our tongue. They are there to establish it when it is good.
The other is the forces of Darkness, the principalities or power, the demons in high places – they are waiting to make use of your mouth to condemn your destiny. We must understand how dangerous it could be if we allow our mouth to work contrary to our destiny. There are some things we need to know, by the use of tongue or mouth, not shipwreck your destiny. So that you will arrive at the place where God wants you to be.
There are three (3) important points we need to know not to make a mess of our destiny. Each point has biblical references.
(It is my prayer that starting today, your tongue will never bring evil to you. Whatever you declare will be a blessing.)
1. Beware of the words of Satan.
The devil is full of tricks. Satan is a dangerous demon, always looking for ways to pass across his word together with his demons. On a daily basis, the devil attack humans, but he cannot attack people who don’t embrace his message. Satan uses circumstances, people and situations to put his message across. Once you accept his messages, and worse declare them yourself, then worst, they will be approved by the enemy. Daily, Satan delivers different kinds of messages to the human mind. The plan and the target of the enemy is to fill people’s heart with his agenda. And when they release the messages, they will not come to pass unless you declare them yourself. Somehow, he is using the influence of his own word, it can even be by what you see in your dream, it can be by the news or by somebody around you. But, it depends on you if you are going to embrace or reject it. And when you embrace and declare it, you are confirming it. Confirming it, means giving the devil an access to fulfill it. We need to be wise about the tricks of the enemy. May the trick of the devil never prevail in your life in the precious name of Jesus.

Daniel 7:25, the Bible says, “And the devil will speak great words to weary the saints of the Lord”. One of the targets of the devil is to release words in your heart, in your mind and in your atmosphere, so that when you embrace the words and confirm, you will become weary and be defeated by the enemy. Be cautious of the words that come your way. As a Christian, you need to have a discerning spirit to know whether it’s God or human beings or Satan talking. Also, be ready, once the enemy attempts to send you a message to reject that it’s not for you.

Matthew 12:35 says, “From the abundance of the heart, the mouth will speak”. From what comes from the heart, plenty of things come from it and the devil is waiting for your mouth to confirm what is being injected to your mind. Once you confirm, demons will have a field day, they will get into action. May you never be a. victim of the works of the devil in the precious name of Jesus. Be mindful of what comes out of your mouth. He is a tricky devil, he will tell you you cannot succeed, you are going to die in that debt. And when he is bringing all those bad things in your mind, like no more salary and money pit, the enemy is waiting for you to repeat it, to re-echo it. When you start saying it, he will bring it to pass. Be in control of your mouth and do not aid the devil in announcing evil to yourself.

There’s a story of a woman, who never had a baby for 12 years of her marriage. She came to me and I prayed for her and told her to trust God. To the glory of God, she got pregnant. One day, on her third month of pregnancy, she had a bleeding. She and her husband got worried and they rushed to the hospital. They were told by the doctor that the woman had a miscarriage. Fast-forward, she went back to me crying, recounting what happened, desperately saying she waited for that baby and presented me the doctor’s report. I looked at the medical report, it’s positive that the baby’s gone, that she had a miscarriage. I looked at the report and seeing through my spiritual eyes, I saw it’s negative, I could see the baby inside the womb. She wondered about what I was talking looking at the report. Moral of the story: Never allow any experts to determine your tomorrow, God has the final verdict.
Anybody can just say, the global economy is in crisis now, you can never be rich, you cannot succeed or you can never be pregnant. Never join the devil to announce that to your life. Presently, the pandemic is killing people, killing people across the globe. As Christians, that should not be our word, that should not be our declaration and that should not come out of our mouth. You are free to claim exemption if you know how to control your mouth and if you don’t join the bandwagon of the devil declaring. Like I told the woman. Yes, there was bleeding but, I asked if there was a leg or head of a small baby in that blood, she said no. I told her that baby usually has a head, legs and hands and that her baby is still inside her womb. I told her to declare it just that, by faith. After nine months, the same woman miraculously delivered a healthy baby boy and named it Samuel.
If you will not join the devil’s declaration and doe not agree with his plan for you, the devil cannot prevail over you. So the mouth is very important, whatever comes out of it, the devil is watching and waiting for you to declare something.

2. Speak out your salvation. Romans 10:10 says, “By your heart, believe. But by your mouth, you confess your salvation”. Salvation means being rescued, being delivered. You cannot be rescued by God if you don’t confess it. So whatever you get as your liberation, or your victory, your mouth has a great role to play. You are destined to be rich but presently, you only have two hundred on your account, do not speak according to what you see or according to your account. Speak according to what you believe in God not by your sight. Whatever you confess with your mouth will be your salvation, will be your deliverance. If you want to be delivered from sickness, speak good health to yourself. It’s a pity that even Christians enumerate or memorize different kinds of sickness. When they feel a little pain, they have a ready name for it, “Oh it must be my high blood” and they declare it saying “My high blood, it has arrived”. Satan is quick to listen and says “Now that you have declared the high blood, I’m bringing the kidney problem also.” Immediately they feel another pain at the back side and declare “Uuch, it’s my kidney, I remember, I remember”. Hallelujah!
Immediately, the devil knows that you have welcomed and declared a kidney problem, the next thing you know, Satan would say, “I’m going to attack your heart”. And before you know it, you’re already gasping, catching your breath, blaming it for heart problem and now you think you’re going to need a surgery. That should not be your portion in Jesus name!

What do you speak with your mouth? The people of the land shall never say “I am sick”. Do you know what the God the Lord was saying, that it’s not a lie, that is speaking the reality. There’s a difference between a fact and a reality. The fact is what the doctor tells you, that this is exactly what happened to you. And comparing it to the truth of the word of God, it goes beyond the fact. It will show you the other side, the revelation of the nature of God that swallows every fact revealed by human beings.
Embrace this truth, for the truth shall set you free. The devil’s role is always about conveying lies, for instance your headache (which usually comes at four o’clock) which the devil intends to ploy to kill you (and very soon). And still, you keep declaring and owning the discomfort saying, “Oh my headache, my headache”. Lies! That is not yours. Don’t own it. Declare: No one can tell me I have a sickness. I don’t have, I can never have it, because Jesus doesn’t have sickness.
If Jesus cannot be in the trap, in the bondage of the enemy, you are not permitted to be there, either. Enjoy good health and enjoy long life. It will be your portion in the precious name of Jesus.

What do you speak with your mouth? Speak salvation. Joel 3:10 says, “Let the weak say I am strong”. Even the weak must never say they are weak, that’s what the Bible says. When feeling the pain and start panicking, the devil may hear it and start to plot saying “Good! I’m going to use that pain to kill you”. On the other hand, when you say I am strong, Satan will be confused. The demon that’s attacking you will find out he is in the wrong place, he will leave you and run away! If you have this word of faith in your mouth and confess it and declare your salvation, God is committed to deliver you. Speak the way God speaks. God doesn’t speak negative. That’s God, it’s in the Bible. When God talked to Joshua, Joshua and the Israelites saw a city of Jericho fully shut that it’s impossible for them to pass. They were overwhelmed with how big Jericho was. And God said to Joshua, “I have delivered Jericho into your hands”, even when the wall was still there but God is saying “Don’t look at it by your sight, your eyes are too small to see how great what I’m going to do, you need to see beyond your two physical eyes.” You need to see the good things that God has planned for you. Never let the devil tell you that you are going to die in a debt, that’s not your portion, that is not the will of God for you. You are not going to perish, you are not going to be a victim of a pandemic or any enemy attack for God loves you and Jesus has paid for you on the cross.
Declare your salvation. If your mouth can speak it, God is permitted to do it. But if you speak contrary, the devil is going to approve it. That is why you need to control your mouth.
I heard many times in the church services, the congregation singing the gospel song “Let the weak say I am strong and let the poor say I am rich”. Many Christians after the service, talk to them. The conversations would go, “How is everything, man?”, and you hear whining answers like, “Oh I am still poor”, “We are really very poor.” And Satan says “Good, you are very poor you just confessed it, then you are going to die poor.” Let me say this, you are not poor because you are a Christian. That is usually the typical idea of a Christian life, a simple poor life. You are not sick and you are not a failure because you are a Christian. All those things; sickness, poorness and failure. All those things have been accomplished by the Lord Jesus Christ on the cross. He has carried your pain so you won’t carry pain again. All these (meaning we experienced these things) occurred by your mind through your mouth. Satan will inject his word and let your mouth carry it out so that you can see what the devil wants: his results. You will never be a victim of the enemy. Seek exactly the way God our Master speaks. Speak the way God is talking about you. People around you may not understand it, you don’t even need them to understand it. All you need to understand is what the Spirit of God is saying and speak what the Spirit of God is saying. Wake up in the morning. Say “I am strong”. Declare “It is well with me, no sickness with my body, it is well with my family”.

The Shunammite woman in 2Kings chapter 4, has only one boy for a child through the life of the man called Elisha. And it came to pass one day, the boy died. And the woman ran back to the prophet Elisha in order to bring the boy back to life. As Elisha saw the woman coming, Elisha quickly sent somebody to ask what happened, why is she coming?, is the boy okay? Is the husband okay? Is everything okay? And all the woman said was “It Is Well”. She was never heard wailing and announcing that the boy is dead. Satan was waiting for the woman to declare that the boy died. And Satan will hold the neck of the boy and say “You will never come back to life because she has already declared that you are dead”. But the woman was so wise, she uttered spiritual language by declaring “It is well”. As the song goes “It is well, it is well with my soul”. So, when you declare it, God’s role is to bring it to confirmation. God will be committed to bring it to manifestation. But when you declare the opposite, contrary to what God is saying about you, the devil is committed to bring it to pass.

Speak good to your account, speak well to the life of your children, speak growth to your ministry, speak good health to your body and to everything around you, the devil will never have a space near you. Believe God with me, whatever you declare, God is committed to do it. You will never be a victim of the devil in the precious name of Jesus.

3. Guard your tongue.
Proverbs 21:23 says, “Whomsoever keepeth his mouth and his tongue, keepeth his soul from troubles”. It’s written and declared in the Bible. Whosoever controls his mouth and tongue, controls his life from trouble. You can get rid of trouble in your destiny journey if you know how to control your mouth. The problem that puts many people in trouble is not being able to control their mouth.

The Bible says in Proverbs 29:11, “The fool uttereth all his mind but a wise man keepeth it in till afterwards” The wise knew the time to speak, they just don’t talk and talk. There are many Christians, after indulging in prayers, after crying upon the Lord, after the prophesy of God, they go out and start using their mouth speaking jargons, and engaging in chit-chats that give room for the enemy to destroy them.

Keep your mouth under control. It is for your own benefit. Whoever keepeth his mouth, keepeth his soul. 1 Peter 3:10 says, “For he that will love life and see good days, let him refrain his tongue from evil and his lips that they speak no guile.” Control your mouth, your tongue, your lips so that you can see good life and good days. If your mouth has no brake, when you speak anything non-stop, you can keep on talking, you will be surprised you are already in big trouble. But know how to control your mouth, every wise speaks little. Only a fool talks too much. Hallelujah!
All the wise understand what I’m talking about.
Colossians 4:6 says, “Let your speech be always with grace, seasoned with salt, so you might know how to answer every man.” Let your mouth know what to answer. It is a dangerous thing for someone who wants to be great, who wants to fulfill a great destiny and not know how to talk. Just talking about anything in public, talking whatever they like on facebook, randomly posting anything and waiting for people to pry, you just don’t have to talk about anything. Speak wisdom, speak with the word of God, speak the right words. So that you can offer grace to the hearer as the Bible says. So that people will see your Christian life and be encouraged by it. Many churches experience a total scatter, members not coming to church anymore because of the mouth of the pastor. I see churches disintegrate because of the mouth of the preacher’s wife. Some churches collapse totally with no members remaining because of the mouth of the leaders. I see people doing business and fail because of a foul mouth. May your mouth never destroy your tomorrow in the precious name of Jesus!
(Prayer: Father in heaven, thank You for Your word. Lord Jesus, I commit everyone into Your hand. Let the wisdom from above guide everyone. Grant us grace to speak the right word in the right time. From this day onward, I declare every word of the devil to weary and to destroy our tomorrow shall never have a chance in our life in the name of Jesus. Receive grace, to speak in language what God has planned for you. Receive grace to speak the word that will bring confirmation of God, commitment of God Almighty for the good success of your life. Receive your healing, your miracle and blessings. When I decree it to you, it shall be established. Every word of the enemy and the people about you is canceled. I declare the Word of God. The real truth and the prophecy from God shall be fulfilled in your life in the mighty name of Jesus. Amen.)
